Tomorrow is the day everyone has been waiting for…to be over!
Regardless of your political views, I think we can all agree, it’s time for this election cycle to come to an end.
With that said, there are a lot of questions reverberating throughout our industry on how the next President will affect benefit advisors.
Honestly, in terms of the ACA, and how health insurance will be shaped in the future, we don’t exactly know. Nevertheless, there is something I do know…
Employers will always need help. There is no perfect business out there who doesn’t need (or want) the expertise, guidance, certainty, clarity, confidence, and outside perspective that you can bring to help them improve their overall organizational condition.
In other words, it’s possible health insurance “brokers” might become extinct in the future, but good business consultants will always have job security.
The question is: which are you? And which one do your clients perceive you are?
Business consultants have been receiving fees for their guidance and expertise since they began offering strategy and advice. Most so-called “brokers” are already delivering business consultancy in some shape form or fashion, they just aren’t identifying it as such and therefore, not valuing it properly to their clients. The problem for most benefit advisors is not in the lack of value they provide, but rather in how they articulate that value and are compensated (or not) for it.
God-willing, tomorrow the election will be over, but the questions that plague the employee benefits industry will still be here.
Your challenges to grow and succeed will remain.
Tougher competition, vanishing commissions, accelerated consolidation, changing regulations will all still have to be addressed and navigated. So, do not hang your hat on any specific electoral outcome. The challenges, struggles, and opportunities are yours, not theirs.
You own the responsibility.
You decide your future, not the next President or anyone else for that matter.
Will you accept that responsibility and take advantage of the massive opportunities before you, or will you depend upon something you cannot control to in turn, completely control your future?
If you’re ready and willing to take back control of your future, then there’s no better place to begin or continue that journey than ASCEND in January.
