Strange name for a post, but the story I’m about to tell you has an important lesson for benefit agencies.
Enjoy the story of…
The Farmer & His Prized Seed Corn
There was a farmer who grew award-winning corn year after year. Curious as to how he could consistently grow such a high-quality product, a reporter asked him his secret.
His answer? He shared his prized, select seed corn with his neighbors.
Astonished, the reporter asked the farmer how he could afford to share, knowing full and well that his neighbors would enter the yearly corn competition as well.
“Why sir, didn’t you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn.”
The point of the story should be clear – we’re all in this together.
Yes, there is competition.
But that is no reason we can’t (or shouldn’t) support one another and find useful and valuable ways to learn from one another.
Overall, collaboration is sorely missing from our industry.
With the ASCEND Summit, we’re looking to change that – to offer a new, better, more effective, and more enjoyable way to build a successful & growing benefits firm. The fact is, there is plenty of market share for those benefit firms that are doing superior work and creating a 21st Century Agency.
We understand that collaboration is not for everyone, but those who do embrace it can experience tremendous results.
Since we started the Agency Growth Mastermind with our charter members three years ago, the results we’ve seen come out of that group have been astonishing.
- Four of our members have developed completely new profit-centers for their benefits firms.
- One agency owner has grown his revenue by 76% in one year.
- Tim Olson of The Olson Group was named EBA’s “Advisor of the Year” due in part to his 55% revenue growth.
- And all of our members have shown growth during their collaboration with us and each other.
That’s the power of directed interaction and the sharing of ideas, strategies, and best practices.
The question for you is — would you and your firm benefit from meeting and learning from other top agency leaders?
To experience that type of collaboration firsthand, apply to join 100 other top agency leaders at ASCEND at the beginning of 2016.
To your success!
